In the boat or out?

Matthew 14:25-30 NIV

Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake.  When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,” they said, and cried out in fear.

But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”

 “Come,” he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Peter comfortable in a boat where he grew up. Crossing the lake just as he has always done, but now with other disciples with him. Fear creeps in and effects them all…

(God do what you want to do, move, adjust, break what you need to break..amen)

In fear the disciples are crying out, Jesus responds “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

Peter hears the voice of the Shepard, Master, friend. “Lord, if it’s you, tell me to come to you on the water.”

Jesus says “Come,”

Some in the boat may have looked at Peter as a fool “look he’s all wet”. While others look at him and say he walked on water with JESUS.

Why did you get out of the boat? While others may have been, “I want to try next Jesus!”

Which one ore you?

We have to make a decision, am I going to continue my life as it is… or will I step out to do what God has called me to do?

Yes, we will sink. But Jesus says “Take courage!” “Don’t be afraid” he is right there with you, as we cry out “Lord, save me!”.

Just as a father teaching their child to swim.
